Premier League Tale of the Tape
Five-time national football league champions, Portmore United will look to crown a very impressive season in the Red Stripe Premier League (RSPL) when they oppose two-time champions, Montego Bay United FC in the final tomorrow, beginning at 4 p.m.
Promoted Portmore United won the regular season $1 million incentive for the team ending on most points. In 33 games, they have won 18, losses seven and drawn results eight for a total of 61 points overall. They have scored 42 goals and conceded 28.
While MBU FC ended the regular season on 59 points in third place, following 18 wins six losses and nine drawn encounters. They have scored a season high 53 goals and conceded 26 times.
Portmore also hold a psychological advantage heading into the final by beating MBUFC on the three occasions the teams met this season.
Portmore United formerly Hazard United won the national title in the 1992-93, 2002-03, 2004-05, 2007-08 and 2011-12 seasons.
On the other hand, MBUFC, formerly Seba United, were champions in the 1986-87, 1996-97 and 2013-14 seasons.
