Shericka Jackson and Ashanti Moore eased through the qualifying heats of the Women's 200m but there was no room for youngster Gabrielle Matthews to join them.

World champion Jackson, the second fastest woman ever over the half-lap distance, put in a controlled run to win the fifth heat of six in 22.33 seconds, while Moore, the reigning national champion also qualified for Friday's 200m final after taking second place two races earlier in a time of 22.57.

Matthews, in her first major international championships, could only manage seventh place in the opening heat in 23.40 but has plenty of time on her side.
